Instructions:

Due to the non-sealing of the copper washers under the injectors (usually injector 3), the calamine produced after combustion penetrates the engine oil. Many oil galleries, sorbet and a sieve specially placed to retain impurities are blocked by this contamination. As a result of these blockages we obtain insufficient lubrication which results in the immediate failure of the turbocharger. Optimal lubrication is crucial for the proper operation of the turbocharger which works in extreme temperature conditions and with rotations of 150,000 - 200,000 rpm.

Take the following steps before replacing a refurbished or new turbocharger for your 1.6L HDI engine:

1) Remove the injectors, remove all the calamine around them and replace the copper washers

2) Remove the vacuum pump and clean the residue from it, or replace the pump if it is damaged.

3) Remove the engine cover and clean all deposits on dowels, rockers, cams ...

4) Remove the oil bath and clean or replace the oil suction, oil cooler ...

5) Clean all gas intake and exhaust pipes and the attached connections EGR valve, gas cooler, intercooler ...

6) Remove the oil filter, clean or replace the oil supply line

7) Replace the oil and filter with the original ones of the car manufacturer

8) Check the oil flow

8.1) Install the turbocharger, do not attach the oil supply pipe yet

8.2) Insert oil into the turbocharger supply part (approx. 30 - 40g) for instant lubrication on first start

8.3) Attach the primed oil supply pipe to the turbocharger and start the engine. Let the engine idle for 15 minutes without turning it.

8.4) Cold engine oil pressure: 4 bar, hot engine oil pressure (80 degrees): 2 bar, hot engine oil pressure (2000 rpm): 2 bar

8.5) Change the oil and oil filter after 50 km

It is necessary to ensure an impeccable and unobstructed oil flow in order not to repeat the failure of the replaced turbocharger.
